Year 4 & 5 pupils had the privilege of listening to, and learning about, classical music from around the world - played to them by the Brodowski Quartet. The quartet comprised 2 violins played by David and Catrin, a viola played by Felix and a cello played by Vanessa.
The children learnt how the stringed instruments could be played in different ways including, bowing, plucking and how the conductor can control the volume and speed of a piece.
All children participated as an audience and some even had the opportunity of conducting - even Mrs Thorndike took centre stage !
This was a great way of introducing some beautiful classical pieces to the children, including the Dance of the Merlitons from the Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky.
