Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Today, year 6 enjoyed a great day out at Dapdune Wharf in the fabulous sunshine! The children are currently learning about rivers and carried out an experiment with the help of oranges to measure the speed of water down the River Wey. We even got the opportunity to explore an old working barge! Here are some pictures to show the fun we had:

Well done to all the children for their behaviour, it was impeccable and so lovely to hear that the leaders enjoyed taking you around Dapdune Wharf. Well done year 6. Miss Cooke and Mrs Shuttleworth are VERY proud of you! Once again a big thank you to Mrs Fry, Mr Mulvaney, Mrs Carter, Mrs Amor and Mrs Lodge for all your help.

Reach for the 6S stars!

On Tuesday 25th September 6S were reaching for the stars when they performed their outstanding class assembly.  They used their knowledge on rivers, their dancing skills and their beautiful singing voices to wow the crowds of children and parents!

6S were very open to sharing their aspirations for the year and discussing how they are going to BE THE BEST THAT THEY CAN BE!

Well done 6S you performed brilliantly and made Mrs S a very proud teacher!

Wildlife area in full bloom.

As autumn term starts we have taken photos of our garden and wildlife areas. Many flowers are past their best but we are hoping to save some seeds for next year.
The wildlife area that we planted in the autumn term was relatively successful with the borage being particularly well established and in full bloom. Bees love them!
However,  we had a lot of fat hen weeds (now weeded) in the imported soil which competed with our germinating seeds.
We are pleased to announce that we had a number of commendations from Rushmoor in Bloom and won an award for gardening in the future......which was a lovely surprise.

A Kick Start to Year Three!

It's been an exciting first couple of weeks in year three. All the children have settled in really quickly to life at Newport and everyone is producing work to a great standard. Keep it up!

Last week, year three were fortunate enough to have a Judo demonstration with the Camberley Judo Club. The children learnt some simple Japanese phrases (including how to count to five), as well as how to break fall, throw down and hold down an opponent.

The children all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we are hoping that Camberley Judo will come in again to teach the year group some more skills. Have a look through some of the pictures from the afternoon.

Make your own slideshow with music at Animoto.

Lewis Bailey in 3L also got to have a go demonstrating on one of the adults from Camberley Judo - have a look at how he got on.

Make sure you take a look at next week's blog - year three are making pizzas!
