Cross Country Season Hits Newport!

The Cross Country Runners from Newport take on another muddy course!

After school today, Newport's future athletes took to the field again to show off their stamina and determination in another cross country race. Although being a tricky course with most of it being up hill and very muddy, all children who took part put in 100% effort. Both boys and girls did themselves and the school proud. Well done to everyone who took part.

Keep an eye out on our school blog for more cross country posts as we have many races to follow over the next few weeks!

Year 3 Day for Change

Year three had an amazing day learning about our link school in Uganda. We started the day off by singing a Ugandan welcome song. Later on the children learnt traditional African drumming and dance skills, which was exhilarating yet exhausting! The children were also fortunate enough to visit our own Ugandan cafe and experience some native Ugandan food. Our final activity was traditional African art and drum making. Overall the day was great fun and insightful for all who participated.

Year 4 Day for Change

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning more about our international link school in Uganda. We watched videos of the children dancing at the Child Promotion School and even had a go at traditional African dancing and drumming ourselves. 4G were lucky to experience a spectacular drumming workshop where Miss George brought in her own African drums. 4C showed off their amazing singing and 4J made their own drums!

Here are just a few videos and pictures to show how much fun we had:

More photos and videos will be added next week!

Year 5 Day for Change 2016

Thought-provoking and fun, Day for Change was ‘drum-tastic’ in Year 5. We made drums and danced to African inspired music. There was a lot of healthy competition between the Year 5 classes when we had our dance off in assembly!

What a busy few weeks!

What a fantastic few weeks year four have had. Not only have we been thoroughly enjoying our work on 'The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe', 4G put on an amazing class assembly this morning teaching everyone about states of matter. This included a brilliant rap to help us all understand the difference between solids, liquids and gases. Here are a few photos to show everything we have been doing:

Photos of 4G's outstanding class assembly will be up shortly!
