Roman Day

A day in the life of a Roman.

This term, year three have been investigating the Ancient Romans. To help us fully understand the Roman way of life we have spent the day doing activities that would have been part of everyday Roman life.

The children found out what it was like to be a Roman artist when making a mosaic tile.

A lot of concentration and patience was needed.

Some experimented with symmetry,

some created a picture.

Meanwhile, in another part of the school the children were enlisted to join the Roman army and tried on a heavy soldiers helmet and then followed the orders of their Decurion (commander -Miss Quinn), who trained them in all the standard Roman formations.

The final activity involved the children being craftsmen as they skillfully made their own Roman chariot.

The children concluded that Roman life was hard work!!!
