Alice Holt!

This week,Year 4 visited Alice Holt where they were taken around the forest by the Forestry Commission. They began the day exploring habitats in the forest and seeing how many mini beasts they could find. The children loved going on a mini-beast hunt and identifying what they had caught!

We also discovered the different food chains within a forest and began to understand what a food web would look like.

Everyone learnt a lot from the day (including the teachers) and we are now really excited to learn more about forests.

Have a look at some of our pictures to see how much fun we had:

What goes up!

3, 2, 1 … Go! Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their exhilarating trip to Chessington on Friday. Our day began by experiencing the twists and turns of scorpion express and later learning about the forces involved when we took part in our workshop. The children even got to design and build their own fairground ride using K’nex! After learning about gravity, spinning forces and how central petal forces kept us safe, the children were able to spot the mechanisms that helped each ride work, particularly on dragon fury where the wheels helped the ride move. All year six teachers were extremely proud of everyone’s behaviour which was of course impeccable. A great day had by all!
Below are some photos of our spectacular day. More to come shortly!
