Selborne
Last Friday, year 6 travelled to Selborne to experience rivers at hand. We had so much fun carrying out experiments to find out the speed of the river, the heights at different parts (caused by erosion, transportation and deposition) and we also enjoyed a duck race! Year 6 learnt about why people settle near a river and the advantages and disadvantages of living near a river. The children were beautifully behaved and made Year 6 teachers extremely proud once again. Well done Year 6!

Puppet Madness!
Puppet Show
As part of this half term's topic, 'That's the way to do it', Year 3 pupils are learning all about puppets. They have already started exploring puppets in class and learning how shadow puppets work in science lessons. Towards the end of this half term, pupils will be designing and making their own.
To launch this new and exciting topic, Year 3 pupils were lucky enough to be able to watch a professional puppet show on Tuesday afternoon! There was lots of cheering and booing throughout the afternoon and some children were even asked to come to the front and take part in the workshop which was very exciting!
We are now very much looking forward to designing and creating our own puppets in order to host our very own puppet show for children in the infant school to come and watch just before the Christmas holidays!

Spectacular K'NEX rides!
Over the last few weeks, Year 6 have been working extremely hard designing the theme of their rides, as well as building them following complex instructions using K'NEX. They have showed a great deal of determination, working well in their teams. We are looking forward to adding sparklers after half term, applying our computing skills of programming.

World Book Day at the Infants!
Yesterday afternoon, 5D and 6C visited Year 1 and 2 at the infants to share their own stories. Both Year 5 and 6 have been working so hard to draft, edit and publish their stories and both staff/pupils were extremely impressed with their final product! Well done to both classes who read with a great deal of expression and then asked the children some interesting questions about their characters. A big thank you to the infant school for allowing us to come down. You all loooked amazing dressed up as your favourite book characters!

A Spectacular Science Lesson
6P's Class Assembly
Well done to 6P, who today put on a fantastic class assembly performance, teaching the whole school all about forces. During the assembly, the children showed off what they had been learning in their science lessons this half term as well as completing some practical demonstrations: children stood on chairs to show gravity; showed forces by taking part in a tug of war and demonstrated pushes and pulls using chewing gum! As you can see they have learnt a lot this term!
To end the assembly, they sung the song which they have been learning in their music lessons - I'll be there by the Jackson 5. Even though it has been a challenging song to learn, all the children performed to the best!
Since this is their last class assembly at the Junior School, they are now looking forward to the year 6 production at the end of the year.
