Barfields

Despite it being extremely warm yesterday - particularly whilst wearing long sleeved tops and joggers for the quad biking - year 6 had a fantastic day at Barfields! The children experienced archery, quad biking, low and high ropes and team building. As always, their behaviour was impeccable which was recognised by the instructors.

Many children conquered their fears by climbing up the very wobbly pole and trying out the leap of faith. Some children even had to have a gladiator style battle to see who would win. This was all done with harnesses and ropes of course! It was great to see everyone motivating each other and generally being amazing friends. The low ropes and team building required lots of problem solving but everyone worked well as a team. Most children commented that the quad biking was their highlight. However, we might need to watch out in a few years because there were a few incidents of driving into a bush rather than staying on the track!

I would like to thank all of the staff for their hard work. Well done to everyone in year 6 for having a go at everything with a smile on your faces. We were extremely proud of everyone!

Day 1 at Runways End

The day started with much excitement as the children found out their groups and rooms. We then headed to our rooms for our first task of the day...the hardest challenge for some....bed making!

After this we begun the outdoor activities which included 3 of the following activities:

• shooting
• kayaking
• rock climbing
• caving
• orienteering
• crate stacking

In between activities we had a scrumptious lunch cooked by Mrs Pither and Mrs Riley which left us almost rolling out the door!!

In the evening, we gathered with the cubs around the brand new campfire to watch it being used for the very first time!! A fire breather lit the fire in spectacular style which was of course followed by singing, marshmallows and hot chocolate after a pyjama fashion show!

After a jam packed day, we are now all ready for bed before the fun starts again tomorrow!
