A 5 Star Performance from 5P!

The Children of 5P Produce a Spectacular Performance for their Tudor Class Assembly

Earlier in the week all of 5P took part in their incredible class assembly set in a courtroom in Tudor times, where Henry VIII was on trial for being a terrible Monarch. After reviewing the evidence the children decided that he was not guilty and that he was a powerful Monarch who made some bad decisions during his reign.

While all the class did an excellent job, a special mention should go to Joseph Lucking who played the lead role exceptionally well, leading to Mrs Brock commenting that he was born for the stage. Also I believe that all us teachers are in agreement that we would like Brooke to take over as Queen after her great idea of paying teachers more money!

I'm sure the audience will agree that it was a fantastic class assembly which brought humour to the life of Henry VIII and his many wives.

Take a look at the pictures below to see the children in action.

An Unfortunate Loss for Newport FC

Newport's footballers showed great skill and determination during their second game of the season.

After school today, Newport's years 5 and 6 football players tackled a very muddy pitch to play against Wellington. Although losing at half time the team did manage to get a goal back in the second half. However even with some spectacular defending and goal keeping (including a header to clear the ball off the goal line) Newport suffered their first defeat of the season. However the boys are even more determined to come back stronger and tougher in the next game!

Well done to all footballer's who took part in today's game you showed great football skills and represented the school well.

After a week of resting,we came back to school refreshed and ready for the new term! This week has been particularly exciting as we were finally able to go on the new play area at break time.

In Music,we filmed our final version of Bon Jovi's 'Livin On A Prayer' which we have been practising last half term. Our focus this half term in music will be to learn our Christmas songs as the Christmas production is just around the corner.

Our topic this half term is 'Everlasting Energy' and we are looking forward to our school trip to Selbourne at the end of the month. Water was the theme of the week; in R.E,we learnt about how water is important to different religions and in Art we created our own images to show calm and moving water using  tissue paper and pastels.

What an exciting first week back!

Year 4 had the pleasure of working with Aldershot Cricket Club this week. During our session we learnt how to accurately throw and catch a ball. We then put our newly learnt skills into a match. This made for an exciting first day back.

English

This week in English we have been combining poetry and dance. We have been looking at the words in a poem and thinking carefully about what action could go with them, and how we can link them. The children came up with lots of brilliant actions to support their poem.

As you can see we have had a really fun first week back and are looking forward to seeing what exciting learning the next half term brings!

All of Year 3 had made amazing hats for homework that they wore to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party.

Parents and friends were invited to the party and were able to share the delicious food that the children had made.
