Good morning! And...more photos from yesterday!

The sun is shining in Weymouth and we are all up and excited for our second day after a cosy campfire sing along last night. Some of us have been up since half past 5!

We are looking forward to a tasty breakfast!

Stars of the show yesterday have to be Sam Cooper, Joshua Selby and Luke Shields-Saunders and Mrs Fry for challenging themselves on the abseiling.

We had lots of fun mountain biking and on the Giant swing. Everyone was very brave and decided to go the highest we could go!

It has been a great first day for team avengers! We have been improving our problem solving and team work skills before flying high and taking to the skies with abseiling!

Team Watts!

Mr Jones' group went on the Giant Swing! They had a great time. Riley and Crystal faced their fears and had a go which was fantastic. After that we went mountain biking. A new challenge for most of them; going out onto uneven ground but they had a wonderful time.

Newport's Very Own Tiger Woods Take to the Golf Course!

Fantastic Performance by the Year 5 and 6 Tri Golfers!

While many of the year 5 and 6's at Newport have never experienced Tri Golf before, 10 children from across the two year groups threw themselves into a selection of golfing activities throughout the competition in order to earn points for their team. 

Once they had got the hang of putting and chipping using the golf clubs, the points started to add up. Unfortunately this was still not enough for us to finish at the top of the table but all children made a massive improvement during the competition. A special mention should go to Robson Shurlock, who put in an outstanding performance showing off his golf skills by chipping the balls over benches and onto targets. 

The whole team showed great enthusiasm and energy throughout the tournament and are now hoping for a Tri Golf Club to be held at school! Well done to all the children who took part.

Summer term

Wow! What a busy few weeks year four have had! From cricket, to investigating magnets and even making their own pop-up books. Year four have continued working extremely hard this term. Here are a few pictures to show what they have been up to:

Tri-Golf Tournament

On Thursday 12th May, 10 children from years 3 and 4 took part in a tri-golf tournament at Samuel Cody. They had to use their pitching and putting skills to aim for targets. If children hit each target, then they got a certain number of points. Everyone was extremely determined and we scored an amazing 433 points altogether which meant we came 4th out of 15 schools! A special well done to all children involved. I was very proud of your achievements.

Team Poland take on the Euros!

Poland's Shocking Defeat to England! 

Today after school, nine boys from across years three and four took part in a European Football Tournament after school at Samuel Cody. After been drawn as Poland, the team was entered into Group B for the group stage alongside Germany, Northern Ireland, Wales, Ukraine and England (who managed to win against us!).

Across the tournament the team played 5 matches during which all the boys were able to show off their outstanding football talents. From the powerful kicks and accurate aims of Kalen Kelly to the incredible saves from Alfie Ralls! All the boys who took part in the tournament put in 100% effort and showed great sportsmanship from the sidelines by cheering each other on.

Even though it doesn't look like we have made it past the group stage, we definitely have some talented footballers ready to join our upper school team over the next couple of years.

Well done to all the boys who took part and thank you to the parents from coming along to watch!
