3L Dance Day

3L Day of Dance


On the 19th May 2017, 3L took part in a day of dance. As part of this terms topic ' Wish You Were Here!', the children explored traditional folk dances from around the world and learnt some traditional English country dances.

Year 5 Taiko Drumming Workshop

Taiko Drumming Hits the Spot!

Last Friday Year 5 took experienced the musical art form known as Taiko drumming. They were fortunate enough to be taught by a leading music professional and teacher called Luke Jones. The children learnt about the cultural and musical background of the instrument and by the end of the session had learnt a great deal.

Today Year 4 took part in a Samba workshop run by the talented musician and teacher Luke Jones. The children explored the rhythms and instruments used in Samba music. The children were enthralled and inspired by the experience.

London Philharmonic Orchestra Trip

London Philharmonic Orchestra rock the stage!


This week Alderwood School Choir hopped on a train to London for a fun-filled afternoon of classical music. The choir ventured to the Royal Festival Hall where they sang with and listened to the fabulous London Philharmonic Orchestra.  Well known songs by composers such as Bach and Bernstein rang through the concert hall as children from across the South East gazed on in amazement. The experience was truly exhilarating and inspiring.

3S Dance Day Extravaganza!

A Day of Dance

On Friday 28th April 3S took part in a day of dance. The focus for the day was traditional folk dances from around the world.  When it came to the practical part of the day, the class learnt a traditional English country dance and traditional Greek dance. Their teamwork and creativity  was outstanding. Well done 3S!
