Year 5 win CSC business enterprise competition!

Year 5 have been working hard on their persuasive writing in English; this prove extremely useful  when a group of Newport pupils entered a business enterprise competition run by CSC and the Connaught School. CSC, an international consulting and IT services company, based at the Royal Pavilion , Aldershot  were very impressed by Newport's designs for a new primary school. Not only did the team have to devise this unique school but  they had to budget, pitch and market the new school. CSC graduates added some real life scenarios to the event such as the interview with the tax man who insisted on taking £100,000 out of their £1 million budget!

Nevertheless Ben's initial idea of a school that travelled the world in re conditioned cruise liner proved to be the winning one. Christian's use of Matt Smith as the school's celebrity ambassador linked the strong themes of travel, learning and community. The judges  (and other schools taking part in the event) were hugely impressed with the  professional presentation and the concept of learning languages in the countries in which they are spoken. All the team's hard work and great ideas were rewarded with first place in competition and a Cineworld voucher.

Well done to Ben, Christian , Katelyn, Elizabeth, Stanley, Dominic, Ellie and Cassandra. Many thanks to the staff at CSC and Connaught for hosting such a great event.
