Ancient Greek Day in Year 6
Although the snow may have stopped us last week, year 6 have had a fabulous Greek Day today.
At the start of the week, the children prepared and ate a selection of a Greek food. Some surprised themselves with how much they liked it and went back for a second helping. The feta cheese being one of the favourites!
To finish the week, all year 6 took part in their rescheduled Greek Day, which included making their mythical beasts out of clay and taking part in a drama workshop.
Over the past few weeks the children have been working hard to design their own mythical beasts and today they were able to make it out of clay. With some expert tips from Mrs Wiseman, all the children have produced some incredible clay sculptures with lots of textures. Some of them can be seen in our pictures below. Next week the children will be painting them before bringing them home for you to see and display.
During the day, the pupils also learnt about the Athena and Spartan city states, looking at how they were ruled through drama. All children were able to come an Athena citizen making some important decisions and taking part in the Battle of Marathon.
We all had a great day and the costumes looked incredible!
