Year 4 have been investigating what materials are best are keeping an ice-cube cold and what materials are best at keeping water warm. We had a very exciting morning last week testing different materials and wrapping them round ice-cubes. This afternoon we carried out our investigation to find out how to keep water warm.

We learnt many skills, including using thermometers correctly, reading the scales and planning and carrying out our own investigations.
We tested five different materials which were: foil, cling film, kitchen towel, newspaper and fabric. We found out that the cling film was the overall best material for keeping the water warm.
