Joel seals win at Park Primary

Lewis - steady and solid in midfield

In our first league game for a long time, Newport edged out a resilient Park team 4 -1. We were without a few leading playersa long with Mrs Bryant and Paul Millerick , our coach.

Howeve we did have our number 1 supporter, Mr Wigmore! The boys responded well to the challenge against an inexperienced Park side who had some very talented individual players.

Steven opened the scoring midway through the first half. Newport couldn't add to this and Park responded with some good attacks which were very unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal especially with a couple of near misses just before half time. Half time 1-0 tot he reds.

In the second half a break from midfield led to Lewis D. scoring and then this was quickly added to by a follow up by Cameron McD. 3-0.

Joel who was playing his first full league, game ran and passed well and was rewarded when his powerful shot beat the goalie at the near post, 4-0! What a debut!

There weren't many other chances and Park were rewarded for their hard work when one of their star players, Tom scored a fine header a few minutes before the end to make the final score a respectable 4-1.

Man of the match was Joel, for his direct running and passing however Sezer pressed him hard for this award with some great control in midfield.
