Hello everyone,
We hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine. This is
a very special week as tomorrow commemorates the 75th anniversary of
the end of World War 2 in Europe. It carried on a little longer in Japan. The
day the war ended in Europe is known as VE (Victory in Europe) day and, as you
can imagine, it was a very important and welcome day for the country after
almost 6 years of war.
Although the plans to celebrate this anniversary have had to
change due to the current situation, many organisations have posted suggestions
for activities online. Here are some websites you might like to look at.

- Our local council has a programme of online events throughout the day and
lots of ideas for things to do.

- The British Legion has put together a home learning pack for anyone who would
like to know more about VE day. Look under the heading ‘VE day resources for
home’.
https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t2-h-4750-wartime-recipe-booklet
- Twinkl has a wartime recipe book for you to try. The recipes all contain
ingredients that would have been available in wartime Britain.

- If you want to know more, there are further learning activities here from the
Historical association.
You have all been busy this week with your home learning
packs. We have been sent some fabulous examples of your hard work and some of
these are on display at the infant site. Keep an eye on Twitter as Mrs
Shuttleworth will be posting some examples there. Here are some of the things
you have been doing.
We were very impressed with the information you discovered
about Mary Anning – she is fascinating!
As you can see, there has been some excellent learning
happening at home. Well done all of you and thank you to Olivia, Owen, Demi, Caleb,
Freya, Anouk, Layla-Shay, Liam, Sienna, Phoebe and William for sending in their
pictures.
We hope you have all been looking at the music lessons on
Yumu. If you have not yet logged in, please contact the year 5 email address below and we will send your
password to you.
Finally, here are a couple more activities you may be

stone! What a treat for all you Potter fans out there! There will be other
celebrities reading more of the book over the coming weeks.
Don’t forget, you can contact us for help, to
send us pictures of your work or just to let us know how you are and what you
