Last week year three visited Butser farm near Waterlooville as part of our current topic 'I came, I saw, I conquered...'
Throughout the day the children got to sample what life would have been like for Roman settlers as they took part in a number of activities including chalk carving, designing mosaics and 'clunching'. As you can see, the children really enjoyed getting their hands dirty during the clunching as they mixed crushed chalk, mud and water to create 'clunch' which was then moulded to form part of a wall. Even some of the adults got their hands muddy!!!!
This was a great day out for year three and I'm sure they all learned something from the visit. We would like to say a special thank you to Miss Johnstone, Mrs Martin and Mrs Reid for their support throughout the visit. This was greatly appreciated by the children and staff alike.
Look out for next week's blog for pictures of Roman Day.
