Children in 5L and 5E followed lots of experiments, which can be found on www.sciencebob.com, and had a lot of fun making a volcano.Using vinegar, washing up liquid and baking soda the children were able to watch how the chemical reaction created the appearance of a physical volcano eruption.
Whilst it didn't 'erupt' as violently as we hoped we did consider the following if we were to do the experiment again.
1: Use warmer or cooler vinegar
2: Have a different shaped dish
3: Add something else to the mix to see if it makes the 'lava' erupt faster (A catalyst such as yeast.)
