Newport's very own Mo Farah's take to the running track!

It was wet! It was very muddy! But the year 5 and 6 cross country runners from Newport Junior School didn't let that stop them!

What better way to spend a Wednesday after school than taking part in a cross country league race! 14 children from years 5 and 6 did the school proud today as they took part in this years first cross country race at Cove Secondary School against 10 other schools.

Having only had a playground to train on, the children were met with two large playing fields to run around and roughly 60 children to compete against. All of them showed great determination, threw themselves into the races and pushed themselves to be the best that they could be. I would like to say a huge well done to all those who took part and a thank you to those who came to cheer them on.

I apologise for some of the blurry pictures below but the children were just too fast for my camera skills!

Look out for more posts about our cross country runs over the next few weeks.
