Newport's Sports Assembly 2016

A Celebration of Sporting Performance

This afternoon, all children of Newport Junior School gathered in the hall to celebrate this years outstanding sporting performances. 

To start with, the children reflected on the year and looked back at some of the competitions Newport had taken part in throughout the year. Following this year group sports awards were given out to those children who the teachers thought had shown Olympic and Paralympic values throughout the year. Each of these children received a certificate and medal to celebrate their sporting achievements.

Club awards were then and trophies were then handed out to members of different clubs and teams to acknowledge the player of the year and the most improved child. Congratulations to the following children:

Unfortunately, at the end of the assembly we did have to say farewell to Mr Garner, who, after two years, will be leaving us to take on a managerial role at Premier Sports. However he will still be popping into the school from time to time. In September we will have a new sports coach who we look forward to meeting.
