Year 4 Explore Africa!

During the rights day, year 4 learnt all about African arts. We had African mask making, African drumming and African story telling. It was a very busy day!

In the mask making with Miss Isaac we looked at different styles of African masks, and we learnt about their uses. We found out that many masks are used in tribal ceremonies and rituals.
In African drumming with Miss Cluett, we learnt about different instruments such as the drum, sanza, horn and lute. We found out that music is all about expressing how you feel about life not just about making nice sounds.
Finally we had just about enough energy to do some drama based on the story of 'Anansi the Spider'. We learnt how story telling is part of traditional African culture.
